Liam’s desire to enable other business owners to live their best lives is a driving force behind starting his own businesses and at the same time not going back to being an employee. In an exclusive interview, I sat down with Liam at a cafe in Bangkok, where he ordered his usual Americano or Long Black, as they call it in his native Australia.

Barnes started his career in the corporate and startup world, working in Melbourne, London, and New York City from 2004 – 2020. With extensive experience in marketing, and business development, Barnes decided to launch his own ventures to help other businesses succeed.

Barnes’ first business, GX Connex, is an outbound marketing agency that specializes in accelerating clients’ revenue through performance marketing. Utilizing their proprietary framework, Optimal Outbound™, GX Connex helps B2B SaaS businesses scale their revenue by leveraging a done-for-you service focused on generating SQLs, Trials, and Sales meetings. 

His second business, 30 Eight, focuses on growing medical practices through a lead generation and patient appointment scheduling service. The company also implements time-saving and cost-saving automation into medical practices, allowing them to run their sales, marketing, and operations more efficiently.

Finally, Barnes’ third business, Cyberaktive, acts as a growth partner to Cybersecurity and MSSP firms. Cyberaktive helps its partners grow their revenue by fixing their sales and marketing problems (or missed opportunities, as Liam refers to it) from the inside out. Cyberaktive focuses on offer creation, lead generation, appointment setting, customer service, and client retention.

During the interview, I discovered something interesting about Barnes that sets him apart from many other entrepreneurs I’ve met for this interview series. Despite his remarkable success, Barnes remains more humble and down-to-earth than most. He spoke passionately about his client’s success and how he genuinely cares about their businesses, which he believes is the secret to his success in his entrepreneurial career.
