Ironclad Inn & Bourbon Tasting Room is now accepting overnight guest reservations

FREDERICKSBURG, Virginia – (May 21, 2024) – What do you get when you combine authentically made local bourbon with an historic building? A bed and breakfast that offers a supreme bourbon tasting room, accommodations, and relaxation in an incredible setting. The Ironclad Inn & Bourbon Tasting Room is now accepting overnight guest reservations and booking reservations for special events, with the ability to accommodate up to 120 people.

“We are thrilled to have purchased the Kenmore Inn,” said Stephen King, founder and president of Ironclad Distillery Co. and Ironclad Inn & Bourbon Tasting Room. “Those looking for an authentic and elevated experience in the Fredericksburg area will not want to miss checking this out.”

Ironclad Distillery Co.’s purchase of the Kenmore Inn has created the Ironclad Inn, offering guests a new experience in the area. It combines the great taste of their bourbon with the relaxing and historic nature of the Inn. The bed and breakfast is offering guests a unique experience, where they can stay the night in one of the historical rooms, be treated to breakfast items from the South, and be able to enjoy bourbon throughout their stay.

Here are 5 things to know about the Ironclad Distillery Co. purchasing the Kenmore Inn:

The first B & B & B. This is a first in the area, where guests can enjoy a bed, breakfast, and bourbon. The doors were opened in April 2024, with guests being welcomed and reservations being accepted.

There’s a good story. The owners always say nothing pairs better with bourbon than a good story. The Kenmore Inn was built circa 1793, giving it a rich history. They plan to connect the storied building and Fredericksburg’s rich history to the present through a glass of the good stuff.

Excellent location. Set over three floors and designed with a mix of preserved period details and familiar furnishings, Ironclad Inn is an oasis in the bustle of Fredericksburg, located among the historic downtown neighborhood’s historical sites, restaurants, and boutiques.

Bourbon and bites abound. The Bourbon Tasting Room, located downstairs in the old Stable Block of the house, is the hub of the Inn and serves up the entire selection of bourbon for tastings and cocktails. Plus, they have partnered with a local charcuterie supplier to offer light bites for the perfect pairing.

Bourbon conversion. In the Coppertop Bar Room wall hangs original saddle bells from the house’s Stable Block. They ring the bells whenever they convert a self-proclaimed non-bourbon drinker to the “brown water society” through their expertly crafted and balanced bourbon cocktails. (Needless to say, the bells ring a lot).

“Whether you want to stop in to sit and sip in one our tasting room, stay a night or a few, or hold an event here, we have you covered,” added King. “We couldn’t be more proud and excited to offer the Fredericksburg area this fantastic historical and tasty combination.”

Ironclad Distillery Co. was founded in 2014 by Stephen King, Owen King, and Kara King. It is a family-owned business that started in the Port of Newport News, Virginia. The name was inspired by the location because it was situated within view of the most famous Civil War naval battle, which was between the first Ironclad ships. Each batch of authentic bourbon is fermented, distilled, and bottled under one roof.

The Kenmore Inn, located in historic downtown Fredericksburg, Virginia, was built circa 1793. The new Ironclad Inn & Bourbon Tasting Room offers nine residential rooms to choose from, each with a bourbon bar cart. The main bedrooms are in the 18th century and provide traditional beds, original fireplaces, seating areas, and sleep for 2-3 people. Additional bedrooms are in the area of the home that was added in the 1930s and sleep two. Breakfast is served daily from 7:30 am to 10:00 am, offering a taste of the South. Coffee, tea, and water are served all day. The Bourbon Tasting Room offers tastings, cocktails, and a daily light snack menu until 8 pm.
