A New R&B Sensation: Obi Alfred Offers Debut Single, “Mind”

A brand new hit, “Mind,” has been released by the recording artist Obi Alfred. Produced by Ryan Bridger and mixed by Scott Garrett Graham, “Mind” showcases Obi’s distinctive R&B sound, infused with pop elements that Obi Alfred accentuates through elongated, smooth vocals. It has a sexy style, and the track instantly captures the listener’s attention thanks to floating synths, enthralling chord progressions, and a bed filled with crackling trap drums. It features lines upon lines of creative lyrics that discuss themes such as love, passion, infatuation, and seduction. “Mind” is a dramatic glimpse into a musician’s thoughts with clearly defined goals and larger-than-life desires.

In essence, “Mind” is about Obi finding love and happiness and is a prelude to his new EP, which is scheduled for release soon. Obi says, “I want people to feel all the emotions of being in love. I want people to relate to the song and understand the feeling of being head-over-heels for someone. I want the song to be stuck in people’s heads, just like the person described in the song is stuck in my head. I want people to taste who I am and my music before they hear the rest of the album.”

The flowy and cloudy lo-fi R&B production on “Mind” sets the tone for a savory love song. The chorus lyrics, “Trapped in my mind, got me caught up in a bind, and I can’t get out of it,” are delivered in a way that leaves the taste of sweet strawberry milk in your mouth. It’s hard to explain how powerful the delivery is, but it’s a sensual and passionate track that cannot be understated.

All of the extra frills added to the track only give the song more atmosphere and significance. The beat and the snaps and little quips leave listeners with a sense of musical fullness and help deliver the message that Obi is totally infatuated.

The sassy outro sequence of “shawty see my drip and she wanna dive in, shawty chose me not some other dry n****, we make the perfect team I don’t have to try,” completes the self-assured and confident narrative of the track. It leaves the listener without genuinely knowing the outcome of Obi’s escapade but reasonably confident they know how it went down.

The track will make for an excellent song to blast in the car with some friends or throw on while you chill. Only the release of the whole EP will make it clear where the song will best fit, but as for now, it’s a versatile and seductive piece that can be enjoyed in almost any setting.
