Art of Living Foundation Co-Hosts Panel on Mental Health

As the youth mental health crisis continues to grow in the United States, a group of experts are planning to address the topic at an upcoming event in the nation’s capital to raise awareness on this very important issue. “Mental health has become one of the biggest issues on the planet today,” says Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, humanitarian and founder of The Art of Living Foundation. “We all have a responsibility to make sure that meditation and breathwork are available to everyone. Those who have found peace within must share it with everybody.”

Humanitarian and founder of The Art of Living Foundation Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, will join the U.S. Surgeon General Vice Admiral Vivek Murthy, MD, MBA and the founder of Stanford University’s Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education (CCARE), Dr. James R. Doty on a panel discussion about mental health and the proven practices to foster youth excellence, happiness and wellness. The panel is scheduled to take place on May 6, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at George Washington University’s Milken Institute School of Public Health.

“One of the greatest needs today is to address the youth mental health crisis…” says Dr. Doty.

The event will also spotlight research conducted by Dr. Seppälä and Yale University regarding Gurudev’s SKY Breath Meditation and its application for youth mental health. The Art of Living Foundation has trained more than six million people in 152 countries worldwide in SKY Breath Meditation, a form of rhythmic breathing, developed by Gurudev in 1982.

The “Social Connection, Compassion and Youth Mental Health” in-person panel event is co-hosted by the George Washington University’s Milken Institute School of Public Health and Center of Excellence in Maternal & Child Health Care; Stanford University’s Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education (CCARE); and the Art of Living Foundation.

This event is part of Gurudev’s U.S. tour, which will feature public events and volunteer gatherings where attendees will be able to participate in Q&A sessions with Gurudev, along with conference appearances and panel discussions featuring leaders in government and academia.
