B2B Workforces aren’t experiencing a Great Resignation, Great Awakening

SkillSetz CEO Matt McCarrick doesn’t believe we’re witnessing a “Great Resignation” at least not when it comes to the Enterprise Workforce. Instead, he believes what we ARE witnessing is a dramatic shift in the balance of power between companies and the knowledge workers who help them run.

There are two reasons this seismic shift is happening and happening in a timeframe that seems way faster than we expected. First, COVID blew up the assumption that a person working in the office was undeniably more efficient and effective than a person working remotely from an at-home office or shared workspace. Not only did companies continue to function when offices weren’t an option, many actually thrived in this adjusted enterprise workforce format.

Second, companies were forced to accelerate their Digital Transformations to be able to support their business goals while also supporting a newly distributed workforce. The technology, business formats, communication styles, and organizational structures of companies needed to adjust to the knowledge workers’ needs, not the other way around. And again, companies were able to meet this expectation.

In short, the historical “basis of the bargain” between knowledge workers and the companies they work for has fundamentally changed forever. Knowledge workers no longer need to make Solomonic tradeoffs between life and work, family and company, or in some cases, happiness and success – and it has become abundantly clear that these knowledge workers and professionals now know this.

This is why we created SkillSetz. was built for today’s modern enterprise and was designed to support the functional requirements of the Legal, Finance, Risk, Technology, Procurement, and InfoSec functions. From supplier onboarding all the way through to tax filings and reporting, SkillSetz. radically simplifies how, where, and when knowledge work gets contracted. Knowledge workers are the future of Enterprise work, so finding ways to support them from onboarding to team member are essential for companies and the talent they bring on.
