- Celebrating Black Culture and Education
This initiative holds particular significance as it coincides with Black History Month, emphasizing the ongoing need for awareness and recognition of Black culture’s profound influence on society. The participating artists created pieces that celebrate this influence, particularly highlighting the importance of access to higher education. This mission resonates deeply with the goals of PLC, BFF, and MARTK’D, as they strive to inspire future generations.
Dion Walcott, Founder of MARTK’D, emphasizes the importance of such programs, stating, “The MARTK’D program at Pensole Lewis Detroit goes beyond the realm of sneakers. This initiative offers artists a platform to express themselves and provides unique vantage points that emotionally move viewers.”
