Black Grief Expert Launches Coloring Book+Inner Healing Podcast

Oftentimes, when a loved one is lost, we tend to forget that we matter, and Butcher launched a coloring book and product line specifically for kids to cope with their own feelings after disaster strikes. Butcher was inspired by the idea after she thought her cancer had returned and was struggling to process her own internal self-grief, which we often neglect without realizing it, and in turn, can struggle to help others. It was from this idea that the “You Matter! and so does your Grief” series stemmed. The 4-R approach is designed to allow people to take a moment to care first for themselves before they put the superhero cape back on. She’s an expert on why grief can be tricky because we assume it means death; however, grief is the loss of a person, place, or thing that we are emotionally attached to. As a certified Life Coach and Grief Support Specialist, she helps others work through their grieving process. She specializes in kids handling grief in the right way and how to connect with them when they are going through hard times as well as The 4-R approach (Relax, Release, Restore, and Repeat). As a Daughter, Ordained Minister, Business Owner, and Grandmother raising 4 grandchildren Troia says, “Even though my life’s work is to help others, it is virtually impossible to pour into others from an empty jar. In order for me to be effective, I had to remind myself that I Matter! I had to first deal with my own feelings of loss/trauma and grief before I could continue to help my clients and others. Troia says, “You are not Humpty Dumpty. You don’t have to be put back together again. The story is it is ok to not be ok. Grief is a process. So often, we tell or expect people to get over a loss and move on, but we rarely tell them how to move forward. Sit in the space of the pain of the loss and truly grieve the moment. We must give people permission to not be the same person they were before their loss. During this pandemic, we have all lost something and when it is over, there will be a ‘new normal, and it will not look the same as it did prior to March 2020.” Coloring
