Casa Delphine Announces New Boutique Addition

SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE, Mexico (November 17, 2022) – Named the #1 best small city in the world for the third consecutive year by Conde Nast Traveler Reader’s Choice Awards 2022, San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato continues to attract travelers from around the globe drawn to the city’s rich colonial history, vibrant heritage, thriving art scene, beautiful baroque Spanish architecture and more. Opened in April 2019, Casa Delphine is one of San Miguel de Allende’s colorful boutique hotels, owned by jewelry designer Amanda Keidan. Since its opening, the hotel has welcomed guests from around the globe. With just five suites, Casa Delphine’s intimate scale gives it a distinctly residential feel, with airy rooms and natural light streaming in through large glass doors and windows with geometric detail. As the pandemic shut down hotels worldwide, Keidan used this time to reimagine Casa Delphine with the addition of Casa 21.

Located just 100 yards up the street from Casa Delphine and a short eight-minute walk to the Jardin, Casa 21 reflects Casa Delphine’s classic ambiance and style. The private three-bedroom, three-and-one-half-bathroom villa with a fully renovated kitchen is the perfect extension of the boutique hotel. With interiors by the creators of Casa Delphine, Casa 21 is a spacious villa that exemplifies the traditional and relaxed colonial charm of San Miguel de Allende’s famous indoor-outdoor lifestyle.

An ideal complement to Casa Delphine, Casa 21 offers the space, privacy, and intimacy travelers seek after the pandemic. Guests enter through a beautiful bóveda hallway to an outdoor central courtyard. On the ground floor, two bedrooms with king beds with two en-suite baths, the newly remodeled kitchen, and a spacious living and dining area with fireplace and charming private office nook surround the courtyard.

The second floor holds a spacious, partially covered outdoor entertaining area with built-in seating, a fountain, and an outdoor fireplace. One level up from this terrace is a beautiful private romantic master bedroom suite with high-beamed ceilings, a fireplace, and French doors overlooking the property. This suite has a minimalist bathroom with a shower and massive windows that lend a feeling of showering among the trees.

Completing the classic San Miguel experience is a covered terrace on the third level with stunning sunset views of San Miguel’s famous church tops and the surrounding landscape. With its expansive outdoor terraces, Casa 21 is ideal for private events, dinners, and special celebrations. Guests have the option for an in-house chef, massages, and private mezcal tastings for an additional fee, and Casa Delphine can organize these and other experiences.

Casa 21 high season (September 15th – April 15th) weekday rates are $ 450 USD per night for the entire house. Weekend rates are $ 585 USD per night for the entire house. Rates during the low season (April 16th – September 14th) are $ 350 USD per night during the weekdays for the entire house, and weekend rates are $ 465 USD per night for the entire house. There is a three-night minimum, and guests can access Casa Delphine’s concierge team to arrange any experiences and special requests.

Behind Casa Delphine’s Design

Casa Delphine is a treasure architecturally, with beautifully hand-laid boveda ceilings, exceptional detail in stonework, and a layout that allows for two very private internal gardens offering a peaceful retreat from the city. Keidan’s concept was to create a luxurious place to stay and unwind with a beautifully curated community dining table for guests to enjoy conversation and revelations with fellow travelers and a uniquely blue lobby with a pop of style. The city is known for attracting visiting artists, authors, and other creative individuals, and this hotelito is well positioned to be a chic gathering place where imaginative travelers land and conversations flourish.

Keidan designed the space herself, and each design decision has been carefully thought out and influenced by her own personality. With its hand-carved large stone fireplace, the lobby is painted a deep rich blue, melding into the deep blue velvet couches and 20-foot ceilings. Keidan collaborated on designing custom glass and metal faceted lights that are a nod to her background in metal and jewelry design. To make the other lighting extra special, Keidan asked local visual and print artist Ri Anderson to create some lampshades exclusively for Casa Delphine. One print is of Mexico City, shot from an airplane at night and adjusted to repeat patterns. Anderson’s work brought in an extra level of texture and color in the rooms, and the lamps are all one of a kind.

The five spacious suites all feature Cantera fireplaces, hand-designed furniture from Keidan’s collaboration with local artists, warm accents, eclectic textures and colors, and balconies that overlook the private courtyards. Guests can enjoy majestic panoramic views of San Miguel from the Spanish hacienda-style private two-floor rooftop suite.
