Cheers! Alcatraz East Crime Museum Celebrates Anniversary of the End of Prohibition

Alcatraz East Crime Museum, located in Pigeon Forge, announces a fun end of Prohibition celebration for December 3-5, 2021

PIGEON FORGE, Tennessee (November 18, 2021) – Alcatraz East Crime Museum is celebrating the anniversary of the end of Prohibition this December. A celebration will be held daily December 3-5, 2021, from 5 p.m. to close, with special activities and admission pricing. December 5th is the anniversary of Prohibition’s end, the day that Americans could openly manufacture, distribute, and sell alcohol around the country again following the repeal of the 18th amendment.

“This is a great time for us and for everyone who is happy that prohibition was brought to an end,” says Summer Blalock, manager for Alcatraz East. “We are excited to share this special day with the community and invite people to come in and check out all the fun we have planned.”

To celebrate, those dressed in Prohibition era attire will receive buy one, get one free admission tickets into the museum from December 3-5, 2021. Guests will have a chance to play Prohibition trivia games throughout the museum, obtain a free mugshot, and participate in a free shooting gallery play. There will be prize giveaways from the museum for those who answer the trivia questions correctly.

Prohibition ended in America on December 5, 1933, when the 21st Amendment was ratified. In 1932, Franklin D. Roosevelt promised the public that he would overturn the 18th Amendment, passed by congress in 1917 and ratified in 1919, which prohibited alcohol manufacture, transport, and sale illegal.

“This is going to be unique experience, so get your Prohibition era clothing out and come on by,” added Blalock. “Your mugshot that night will be one worth saving and sharing!”

Museum hours are currently 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. The museum is cashless, so tickets can be purchased ahead of time online, or through non-cash options at the ticket booth. The last tickets are sold 60 minutes before closing. These interactive experiences are available to birthday parties, school groups, scouts, team building, or other special events for an additional fee. For more information about the Repeal Day Celebration visit the Facebook event page.
