Credo Revolutionizes the Process of Medical Record Retrieval

Carm is the founder and CEO of Credo, the leader in automated patient medical record retrieval. Carm is a nationally recognized digital health leader actively building and scaling healthcare technology. His first company RxRevu raised over $35m in venture capital, scaling to the largest national network for real-time cost transparency for providers. The RxRevu network now supports over 250,000 providers across 700 hospitals, offering real-time pricing for over 150 million insured Americans.

Following RxRevu’s success, Carm is focused on his latest venture, Credo, to radically simplify and update the current medical record and retrieval process. Credo’s digital solution offers healthcare providers an alternative to traditional faxed based processes that result in incomplete patient health records with costly mistakes. Through Credo, Carm is passionately working to eradicate the manual processes healthcare has relied on for years.

At a national level, Carm has been instrumental in supporting interoperability and patient access to data through demonstration projects supported by the Office of National Coordinator (ONC) and the development of the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resource (FHIR).

Carm is a passionate thought leader, presenting at dozens of healthcare innovation conferences and summits, and has been featured on CNBC. He currently lives in Denver with his two sons and enjoys the outdoors.

Can you explain the state guidelines pertaining to how long a health care provider must maintain patient records?

This all depends on state regulations and most states require providers to hold onto records anywhere from 3 to 10 plus years.

What are some common pitfalls that prevent the successful transfer/release of patient records? Does it mainly have to do with losing physical copies of records without a digital backup?

Most pitfalls have to do with the high utilization of phones and fax to retrieve medical records.  Most providers lose track of requests or get overwhelmed with too many requests and can’t keep up.  This has only become worse over the last two years due to staffing shortages.

How can Credo aid healthcare providers in ensuring patients can access their medical records?

Credo is a digital automated medical record retrieval solution that helps providers gain access to patients’ records while ensuring patients maintain access to their records moving forward.  We do this by using new digital on-ramps provided by the 21st Century Cures Act that enable direct digital access to patients’ medical records.

In what ways is Credo helpful to insurance providers?

We can help insurance providers by ending the practice of chart chasing to support risk adjustment for medicare advantage plans as well as the individual market under the ACA.

What features are included in the Credo interface? How do they differ based on user (i.e. healthcare provider, patient, or insurance provider)?

Our system works universally across all users as it takes requests to get the records for a particular patient or member of a health plan and then our team supports them through the process of gaining access to their historical medical record data and then we ensure it’s sent to the right provider or payer so they can better treat that patient with their complete medical record.

Can you explain Credo’s pricing/what it means for pricing to be “based on success, not pages”?

We charge our customers a one-time flat fee only if we’re able to retrieve the records for an individual patient. If for some reason we can’t retrieve the records we don’t get paid.

How can healthcare providers find out more about Credo’s product, and when will the official product rollout take place?

Visit our website at www.credohealth.com to request a demo and we are going live in Florida with our first provider partners next month.
