Paws of War is on a mission to help save a paralyzed dog in the Middle East
NESCONSET, New York – (February 29, 2024) – A stray dog in the Middle East doesn’t have a good chance of surviving. Add to that the dog being paralyzed and unable to use her back legs, and the situation is dire. Without community support, the dog they named Tiny Tammy will not survive. The soldiers providing care for her are desperate for help to get her moved to the U.S., where she can get the medical care she needs and live out her life in peace and safety.
“This is a heartbreaking situation, and we are more than willing to step in and help save Tiny Tammy,” says Robert Misseri, the co-founder of Paws of War. “She won’t survive if we don’t get her out of there. She is living in harm’s way, and every minute counts. We have to act quickly to get her moved to safety. The soldiers will not let their hearts and souls leave this baby behind.”
The U.S. soldiers who discovered Tiny Tammy found her hiding under an old couch. She had no use of her back legs and dragged them around everywhere. She was starving and terrified. The soldiers made friends with her, and although they are not allowed to take her back to their base, they do their best to help feed and care for her. They realize, however, that she cannot stay in that situation. She won’t survive it.
In light of this, they reached out to Paws of War to see if they could help save Tiny Tammy’s life by moving her from the Middle East to America. She will be paired with one of the U.S. Army Sergeant Jack, where she will live out the rest of her life and be well cared for. The extent of her health conditions or how much pain she is in is unknown at this time. Still, she will receive a complete medical evaluation and all the care that is necessary to help her recover and thrive to the best of her ability.
Tiny Tammy has taken a liking to the soldiers because she now knows they visit her to provide care and love. She has dragged herself along the roadside to the military base to find the soldiers she has bonded with. All of them agree that she needs immediate assistance to be moved to safety, where she can be provided for and receive proper medical evaluation and care.
“The day we found Tammy, she was hiding under an old upside-down couch in a pile of trash. She was shaking with pain, and her eyes were screaming for help. She can’t wag her little tail, but you can see the happiness in her when she sees us, and it’s not only amazing she survived this long, but that she still desperately wants to trust in people,” says U.S. Army Sergeant Jack. “She won’t make it here, but if she can get to America, I can give her a life where all her needs are met, and she will be safe and loved. She’s fighting to live. I can’t give up on her now, and I am so thankful to everyone who is
willing to help save her.”

Paws of War can make the rescue happen, but only with the help of people in the community. It is a costly mission to get Tammy moved to America, and the team needs to get through a lot of red tape to make it happen.
