EP Review: “Dead Summer” by Levi Zadoff and Dead Hendrix

“Dead Summer” was released in June as a joint effort by both Levi Zadoff and Dead Hendrix. This EP can best be described as pop punk and will certainly please those who enjoy listening to that genre of music. With elements of rap and rock also featured on “Dead Summer,” it is also entirely suitable for fans of those genres as well. Additionally, the well-written lyrics and emotional delivery will resonate with a broad audience beyond fans of these genres.

“Dead Summer” contains five songs: “DONT THINK IT COULD GET MUCH BETTER,” “ALONE,” “CANT BE GOD,” LOVE GAME,” and the bonus track “TEENAGE DIRTBAG.” Each song sounds distinct from one another, proving they all have individuality, and listeners will be able to pick out favorites. However, they also sound like they all belong in an EP, with Levi Zadoff and Dead Hendrix striking the delicate balance needed to create a cohesive EP. Throughout “Dead Summer,” listeners will hear uptempo pop punk on “DONT THINK IT COULD GET MUCH BETTER,” midtempo rap on “ALONE” and “CANT BE GOD,” uptempo rock on “LOVE GAME,” and a mix of everything on “TEENAGE DIRTBAG.”
