What problem does Every Cycle solve?

Every Cycle has created a reusable tampon applicator and 100% certified organic tampons to help reduce the environmental footprint of period products. How can this transform the world or our day-to-day lives?
There are over 200,000 tons of waste from period products per year, as 1 woman will use between 10,000-14,000 tampons in her lifetime. When broken down, each disposable tampon applicator is composed of 3 units of single-use plastic: the wrapper, the barrel & the plunger (pusher), making it 30,000-42,000 pieces of plastic per woman! Sustainable period products are rising, but not all women are comfortable with menstruation cups or period panties. What is the “Founder story”?
Founder Jessica Samson was shocked by how much plastic waste a single-use disposable tampon applicator creates. As she dove into research on product waste and menstrual cycles, Jessica decided it was time to take matters into her own hands. The Every Cycle reusable tampon applicator was born after months of research and prototyping. The sleek design makes insertion similar to a single-use disposable tampon applicator without harming the environment.

How did you come up with the idea?
We’re all familiar with that midnight waddle to the bathroom: that imminent feeling of the dreaded gush, then the rush to get a new tampon, only to find that there are no more disposable plastic applicator-style tampons, and all that remains is that dusty box of applicator free tampons from years ago. One night, as founder, Jessica Samson, found herself in this position, she frantically thought to herself about what to do next! In her midnight haze, she became quite innovative and tried to clean a used plastic applicator that she found in the trash can and insert a new applicator-free tampon into it.
Unfortunately, that plan was a major failure, but looking at her trash can full of single-use plastic that was when inspiration struck, she thought to herself, “wow, the waste from all these disposable tampon applicators is alarming.”
