Exclusive Interview: Jdmilitant

What is your name and what city do you rep?

I go by Jdmilitant (pronounced Jd militant). Im from Boston, Massachusetts.

Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them?

My most recent release is called “My Pain” featuring Albeeal. My inspiration always comes from life’s experiences and what Im surrounded by. This track right here special cause nothing about it was forced, it wasnt even the track we planned on doing together. We just got in the studio and went off of the feeling. Just off of that we knew we had something the streets would appreciate.

What is unique about you and your music? Release?

My sound is shaped by authenticity. I love when the streets tell me one of my songs made em feel something. Those who know me best know I shoot from the heart and I think when you can do that and relate to others experiences at the same time, you bound to create something special and long-lasting.

What shaped your music?

Music has always been something that comes natural to me, I think i started taking it more serious when I realized I could do something I love and change my life and the lives of the people around me at the same time.

What type of music do you listen to?

I listen to whatever I can relate to the most at that point of time in my life, so its always changing. With that being said, I go off of the feeling. I gotta feel like the artist im listening to speaking from the heart. Otherwise u could have the best sounding song in the world but it wont move me.

What inspires you to write music?

I try not to force Inspiration, i let it come when it comes and you never know when its gonna hit you next. That can be a fun part of the process if you dont put too much pressure on your craft. If im not feeling inspired chances are you aint gonna catch me making music.

What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?

I like going after big goals; If im not working on music I gotta be working on something where the reward’s so big that It keeps me interested long enough to reach it. I got an entrepreneurial spirit so if the music route dont pan out you’ll probably catch me on the cover of forbes magazine in the near future lol.

Happiness to you is…

Happiness to me is continual growth in all areas of life. Everything gotta be moving forward, if you aint growing you dying. I live by that.

What do you wish you were told when you first started making music that you think would help artists just starting out?

Don’t rush the process & dont let anybody rush it for you. If its meant to happen, it will. Make sure everything u doing is coming from a position of strength, not weakness. Dont be in a rush to be in rooms you aint prepared to be in, invest in yourself first and whatever you do, be authentic.

Tell us about your upcoming projects…

Im working on my project “Head Rival”, taking my time with it to make sure the quality and execution all match up. For the time being you’ll probably see me dropping more singles until I’m ready to drop a classic body of work.

Where do we find you music / music projects?

You can find my music on youtube and the majority of streaming platforms @ Jdmilitant.
