My name is Pimptress and I rep Clearwater, Florida which is near Tampa, FL n St Pete, FL for the ones that’s not familiar
Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them?
I just released my very first R&B EP which is very special to me because it’s a body of work I’ve never released before. I was extremely strategic with this project because I wanted my fans to love it and see and feel a different side and catch a different vibe from me outside of me rapping and spitting hot sh**
Honestly I’ve always been a singer and truly I just wanted to try something different. The EP is called “Pink Light Special” which was inspired by the group TLC Red Light Special song they had… I loved that song and group and decided to just kind of run off that for the title
What is unique about you and your music?
I think that I don’t sound like any other females out there.. my topics, metaphors, n delivery are always different. I’m a story teller. So that kind means I write of course so basically I like to give you a story through my music. You know kinda to make you think but not too much because I still want it to be a vibe which is why my beat selections and producers I choose to work with are always crazy!!
What shaped your music?
Just learning and growing over the years. Finding my sound throughout time and consistently creating everyday
When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?
Right out of high school I knew that music was going to be the career for me and no matter what or when I knew and still know ill make it with hard work and consistency. It’s definitely a passion. I couldn’t give it up even if I wanted to
What type of music do you listen to?
I listen to alot of old school music because it has more substance. You know like 90s R&B n Hip Hop but… overall i listen to all kinds of music to be honest. I listen to alot of the new rappers and singers as well!! Rap, R&B, Pop, etc… just all depends on my mood. I listen to my music alot too
What inspires you to write music?
Life rather good or bad! Really anything inspires me to write
What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?
I’m usually selling merch, which kind of leads back to music. Outside of music I like to travel. So I book trips to different places to take a break from music and just live life.
What do you wish you were told when you first started making music that you think would help artists just starting out?
Honestly I wish I knew more of the business aspect of music from the beginning. I would have not made a lot of the mistakes I’ve made over the years if I had known more of the business side and that’s exactly what I would tell any upcoming artist. I’m still learning something new everyday
Tell us about your upcoming projects…
I have more singles I’ll be dropping soon. I’m dropping a new project called “Fun Facts” soon I don’t have an exact date because it’s still in the process of being created but it will be soon. I have a few more surprises for projects!!! Fun Facts is very self explanatory each song will have a scenario of fun Facts pertaining to whatever situation and topic I’m speaking on. It’s going to be a really dope album. Fans will definitely love this and there’s some bangers on there.
