Furzapper: Hacks to avoid a hairball home

Many people might not realize this but living in a dirty home can make you sick. Allergies, asthma, and other conditions can be triggered and prevent you from getting a decent night of sleep. Not to mention the growth of bacteria that can expose you to germs. But while a normal home might be able to get by with a deep clean every now and then, homes with pets need to keep up more often. Research published in the PLOS One Journal found that homes with dogs have a greater number of bacteria and more types of bacteria. But conquering the mess left behind by furry friends (from muddy paw prints to piles of fur) can seem overwhelming. But there are easy ways to keep your home from becoming a hairball:

Clean regularly

Cleaning regularly is a huge part of maintaining a mess-free home. Find a cleaning schedule that works for you. Some people prefer to tackle rooms one day at a time throughout the week, and others like to clean their entire home in one day. No matter what you choose, it’s important to free up time throughout the week dedicated to cleaning your home. This way, it doesn’t become overwhelming, and you can take care of messes before they become a bigger problem.

Wash your pet’s things

One of the biggest things you can do to maintain a clean home with pets is to clean their space and things. Be sure to wash their bed regularly, wash toys in the dishwasher, or throw their toys in the washer if they can be. It’s important to also wash their food and water bowls, which get dirty quickly and can harbor a ton of bacteria. By taking care of your pet’s space, you’re not only eliminating clutter but making sure their things that often end up around different areas of the home, stay clean.

Have variety in your cleaning products

Pets are prone to many different accidents and messes. Having a variety of cleaning products (carpet cleaners, enzyme cleaners, sanitizers, wipes, and more) allows you to be prepared for any mess. This way, you can effectively clean and take care of messy areas without having to put it off and get the right products at the store later. If you’re able to take care of multiple different kinds of messes at once you’re less likely to find yourself in a situation where you’re not able to clean it up when it happens.

Groom your pets

For pets that shed, this is especially important. Whether they go to the groomers every few weeks, or you purchase a brush and take care of their fur yourself. Brushing or Grooming your pets regularly can minimize shedding and is actually good for their skin and hair. Spring shedding season is right around the corner, meaning this step is even more crucial to start taking care of now. But the shedding is inevitable for most pets, and you’re likely to still find their fur around the house, so…

Use pet fur remover gadgets

There are many different kinds of products on the market that can take care of pet fur. Ensure you have the right gadgets and tools that can make your cleanup easier. For example, there are vacuums available that are specifically marketed towards pet owners because they have special tools, extra suction, and other features that make them effective against fur. Other products such as FurZapper® can help eliminate fur on clothes, bedding, sheets, blankets, towels, and other items that can be thrown in the washer and dryer. All you have to do is toss FurZappers® in with your hairy sheets, blankets, pet’s bedding, or clothes during any wash cycle and then transfer it to the dryer with the wet, clean load and your pet’s fur will be washed down the drain, and in your lint trap.
