Happy Habitats: 12 Unique Stocking Stuffers Under $25

Happy Habitats Innovation

What problem do Happy Habitats solve?

The Halo was designed to solve the problems that exist with current small pet exercise balls while also creating new opportunities for pet owners. The hamster ball that came out in the 1970s has never gotten an upgrade. Its ventilation holes are large enough for the animal’s paw to get stuck, and the cheap plastic warps over time. This ultimately leads to the ball’s lid popping off while in use, allowing your hamster to escape and get lost in your home. Happy Habitat’s ball, the Roam, mitigates these issues. Our ball’s ventilation holes are 2mm large to prevent paw trapping. There’s also a greater ventilation surface area, resulting in superior airflow for your small pet. Additionally, the lid has a two-step locking mechanism so that it won’t pop off. Our ball is made from high-quality plastic, screwed together, and built to last. However, that’s just the Roam. What really makes us revolutionary is our Halo carrier. Snap the Roam into the Halo, and now your pet is running in place. With a carrying handle and magnetic kick-out stands, your pet can run at home or on the go. Never before has there been a safe way to take your small pet for a walk.

How can this transform the world or our day-to-day lives?

As consumers, we don’t know what we want until we see it. Before the car was invented, people were asking for faster horses. The Halo offers an experience for your small pet analogous to dog walking. Never before has there been a safe way to take your hamster for a walk. Shortly, you may very well see people of all ages walking the streets with their small pets. Another cool feature is that children can spend time with their small pets outside their cages while studying or hanging around the house.

Happy Habitats Founder

What is the “Founder story”?

In college, I had an “emotional support” hamster named Mooksie. We were best friends, and he was well-known on campus. Mooksie often accompanied me to class and was well-liked by everyone he met. Upon getting my hamster, I noticed the market was underserved. There was little variety in the small pet space and what was being offered was old and outdated. Many pet owners were creating DIY solutions to problems they faced. This was where I saw the opportunity to create something new!

How did you come up with the idea?

One day in college, my hamster Mooksie and I were hanging out on the quad. He was in his ball, and I had to keep chasing him in circles, there was no way for me to lead him. Then I saw a woman walking her dog, and I thought, “I wish I could walk my hamster.” That was the moment Happy Habitats came into being.
