While we wrapped up this year’s collection of new releases, we browsed through playlists and selected highlight music that led audiences to the repeat button. From pop to rap and all genres in between, 2022 was a year of evolvement in the music industry, and independent artists were the focus. Featured on Lyric Select and Hip Hop Exclusives, we ring in the new year with memorable names in the rising artist category.
Bezaloha – “Gate Keepers” – New York native Bezaloha has been on fire. Releasing 3 EPs within 2022 alone and showcasing his versatility with each project having its own unique genre ranging from pop, hip hop, R&B & rock. Criz Milz – “It’ My Time” – Criz Milz is from Gary, IN and now resides in Las Vegas, NV. In 2023, he will be celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Big Game Hunterz Entertainment Muzick Group & Production that he started in 1998 along with Ivory Holmon Jr. Criz Milz was mentored by Chicago legend George Daniels, Studio925’s Greg Gray, MicCheck owner Michael Howard and Chicago’s Sekou Bahari. E-Dash – “At it again” – This is the second single from artist E-Dash. Its melodic chorus and hard giving lyrics make this song a timeless classic. E-Dash has a flow all his own that keeps the audience spellbound and in amazement as he demonstrates pure hip hop genius. E-Dash delivers a banger with “At It Again” currently song of the day in Belgium Germany and song of the week with over 1.8 million views on whackstars podcast show. I IG: @BRealPromotions
Emac Money – “GNA” – Emac Money aka LitGod is a Brooklyn born, Miami raised artist who is quickly rising to the top! In 2014, he dropped the hit single “Booty Talk” with Young Money artist Tyga, the same year he signed with Universal. In 2016, he ran into legal trouble and was incarcerated for several years. However, that didn’t stop him. In 2020, he was released and formed a new label “LiT4EVR Music Cartel” with a fresh unique style and image, birthing the persona “Big LiT” the “LiTGoD”. His most well known record “My Time” peaked at #12 on the iTunes charts and currently has 250K+ Spotify streams. With his own unique style and sound, Emac Money is an artist you need to hear. FMEO Dixon – “Lion” – Philadelphia based hip hop artist FMEO Dixon blesses us with a hot new single titled “Lion”. The talented artist followed his passion for music as he began to look into an inner space, spiritually awakening and aligning with his true purpose. F.M.E.O is an exclusive brand representing those that hold themselves accountable to fulfill their purpose. Getmoney Dro ft. Rick Ross – “True 2 Da Game” – Getmoney Dro is a rising Philadelphia based artist who just released a hot new single titled “True 2 Da Game” ft. Rick Ross. His latest release “Dangerous” was a hit with over 100k streams and sales in the first week. The talented artist is signed to Bc Records and has features with major artists such as Fat Joe, Jadakiss, Murda Mook and more. He has a unique style that motivates and captures your attention. Haze OPC – “Push Your Way Thru It” – Bringing in 2022 with a successful album, Haze OPC knew there was still work to be done. He set things in motion with “Together”, a heartfelt song similar to “Dear Mama”. His next single “All White (Feeling Godly) took the world by storm and it is still consuming music lovers from around the globe. International Haze’s presence has been felt throughout the year garnering major attention and ending on a higher note with the release of his groundbreaking third single, “Push Your Way Thru It”, reminding everyone they can work themselves through any obstacles in their way. IamDerby – “Take Me Away” – “Take Me Away” by well-known Virginia artist IamDerby is produced by Primetime Beatz and co-produced by IamDerby. IDK Ro – “Hoopty Music: May God Bless the Fall” – I Don’t Know Ro is a metaphor-filled, complex artist from Las Vegas. Ro’s eccentric and vibrant nature electrifies from the guitar to Harmonious tones to excite stages and nightclubs across the globe. Born in Long Beach, California, IDK Ro uses his west coast influence within his lyrics and overall persona. Several highlights in the young artist’s career include airing on Sway in the Morning, A guest appearance from Busta Rhymes, performing at the 2018 BET Experience. Jahfeeil – “Honey Cotton Candy” – Jahfeeil is a talented artist with a passion for R&B, Soul and more. Born in Los Angeles, but raised in Houston, TX, this charismatic singer and songwriter managed to combine stunning melodies with infectious grooves and great beats, in order to create a catchy, yet direct and edgy sound. Jahfeeil is quickly generating quite a powerful buzz around him due to his distinctive approach to songwriting. Jaymellz – “High Hopes” – Jaymellz is a singer, rapper, songwriter, and producer from South Carolina. Formerly known as J_Mello, he’s worked with names like DJ Smallz, Soulja Boy, and appeared on tapes hosted by Gillie Da Kid and Bow Wow. Kng Pastor – “Money Phone” – Using music as a canvas, Kng Pastor aka 1330 vividly paints a picture of life, love, and the pursuit of a better tomorrow. Upon releasing 5 singles showcasing his unique lyrical ability, 1330 has gained a worldwide following. “Money Phone” is described as the “pursuit of a better life”. Lette Weaver – “Toxic” – Lette Weaver is breathing life into emotions through her music. The talented artist focuses on the vitality of being able to admit her own truths when it comes to women and relationships. She affirms that the first step to resolving your problems is to admit you have them – a recurring idea in “Toxic”. BizzieMade created the infectious beat, Bambino sound engineered and mastered the track, while Lette Weaver showcases her ingenuity with song writing. Mary K – “Mr. Criminal” – Sweet Maria aka Mary K, was born in Angola, but grew up in different countries such as Czech Republic, Cuba, and Nigeria. She started her music career working as a backup singer for different Angolan groups and solo artists. Mary K stood out as a songwriter and wrote songs for many artists. Months later, she launched her solo career and toured in Angola and internationally. The talented artist has won numerous awards and nominations. Mosberg Banga – “The Stovv 2” – Mosberg Banga released a new single collaboration with Proffeny, D1ffr3nce, Sam G. The Stovv 2. Stove 1 was released last year as a lead off single with (D.H.S) Dark Hustlers Society. Leading up to their album In Hustling We Trust Vol 1 hosted by Jadakiss. Mr. Streetz – “Broken System” – Mr Streetz fires shots at the ‘System’ with new song “Broken System”, an eye opener to all the people who have been blinded by the powers that be. 2022 has certainly been an eventful one for London based rapper Mr Streetz, from his first ever release in January, he has created a vast following. His new release “Broken System”, delves deep inside to bring out the emotions felt with our current democracy, this song erupts with as much power as a built up pressure cooker. Renzo D – “Special Delivery” – Rising artist Renzo D blesses us with a hot new single titled “Special Delivery”. This joint goes super hard and it’s the next best longest verse since Jay Z’s verse on “God Did”. The artist was discovered by Fat Joe and Jadakiss and continues to put out hit after hit. SoS Kham Kham – “ I.O.W. E.T.J.” – I owe everything to Jah / I outwork everyone through Jesus is the latest mixtape from the self proclaimed Starr Of Tha South. This hot new tape is hosted by DJ Chill Will and is available on all platforms. It’s all bangers from beginning to end. She also dropped 2 videos for the project, with a 3rd set to drop 1/1/2023. Stickio – “She Know” – Born in NJ now residing in SC, Stickio is a music star on the rise. He provides his hip-hop and R&B fans with a variety of authentic, modern, & tastefully forward music. Painting colors on the canvas of life, Stickio creates diverse songs that express pain, lust, life lessons, and growth. Anyone that hears his music is bound to become a fan. Stickio aims to show the youth positive alternatives to the streets by providing various perspectives of life through his music. Sweet Limb – “Vibes” – The musical project of rising creative Sweet Limb channels DIY artistry rooted in candid lived experiences and soulful instrumentals. Raised by a single mother and overcoming depression, independence and perseverance have formed the pillars of this emerging artist’s life and music. Wakko The Kidd – “9 Chainz” – Wakko the Kidd is a well known California based artist. He just dropped a new video titled “9 Chainz”, which the artist says is “about enjoying life and reaching your goals”. Earlier this year, he became the latest victim of a crime wave gripping Los Angeles and was shot multiple times in an ambush attack. In the music video 9 Chainz, Wakko recaps footage of his recovery. Word Life – “Magic City” – The Bronx born and now Dallas based rapper Word Life has been making a lot of noise with his latest single “Magic City”. The release of “Magic City” was first broke in New York City clubs and landed Word Life on the top 15 iTunes Charts in the UK. “Magic City” is shot by @Firsteyemedia using a Led Wall Soundstage which is next level technology called Virtual Production. Zy Da Shadow – “No Evil” – Zy Da Shadow is a rising artist from Pittsburgh, PA who just dropped a hot new single titled “No Evil”. He wrote the song as a way to capture some of current signs of the times in the culture of hip hop. “No Evil” is a musical representation of some of the struggles people are dealing with from inside and outside the culture of hip hop.
