KinoToy Cinema Artesanal is pleased to announce the 1st KinoToyFest, an international short film festival that will be held in February at Cine Brasília. This event aims to promote and recognize the production of national and international non-profit short films.
The net proceeds and non-perishable food items collected during the festival will be donated to the Associação de Apoio a Portadores do Câncer e Famílias Carentes (ACAF), reinforcing our commitment to social responsibility.
The festival categories include Fiction, Animation, Documentary, Student, and DF. The best films in each category will be awarded R$2,000.00, and there will be an additional prize of R$2,000.00 for the most applauded film, chosen by the audience on the closing day of the festival.
Registration is open for films produced from January 2022 onwards and can be submitted until December 10, 2024, through the Film Freeway platform, with a registration fee of R$69.00. Films by students and residents of the Federal District have specific requirements, as described in the festival rules.
Paula Seixas, Festival Founder, says: “We are incredibly honored to have James Pratt as part of the jury for the 1st KinoToyFest. His vast experience and deep passion for film bring an invaluable perspective to our festival, and we look forward to his unique insights in judging the incredible films submitted.”
James, whose past credits include Longevity Hackers with Edward Norton, The Forest Hills with Shelley Duvall, Felissa Rose and Edward Furlong, and Malibu Crush, for which Pratt won Best Actor at the LA Film Awards.
The awards ceremony will take place on February 1, 2025, at Cine Brasília, where the winning films will be screened, and the public will be able to vote for the most applauded film. The event will feature a diverse program, including the screening of short films outside the competitive section and a cocktail party for participants.
