Learn About the Importance of Clinical Research

With the New Year underway, many are setting new fitness resolutions, heading back to the gym, or looking for new ways to stay active with family and friends. As the pandemic continues, this month also serves as an ideal time to recognize and honor those who have volunteered, provided care, and helped make new treatments and vaccines possible. CISCRP, a non-profit organization dedicated to educating and engaging the public in clinical research, invites you to register for the 4th annual Medical Heroes Appreci-a-thon event.

The Medical Heroes Appreci-a-thon is the perfect opportunity to kick off the New Year by staying active with family and friends while showing your support for those who make new treatments possible. This is a free, virtual activity challenge held from January 3rd-31st where participants log their activity to recognize and express appreciation for all “Medical Heroes” — the clinical trial volunteers, medical and healthcare professionals, and researchers who work tirelessly to advance medicine and have been on the front lines during the pandemic.

Racers can log their activity throughout the month of January in a virtual portal, with each measurement of activity converted into miles that will pinpoint teams on the virtual course. This year’s virtual racecourse will wrap around the coastline of Oahu, with scenic views for participants to enjoy every mile. The event is open to everyone — you don’t have to be an athlete to participate! Racers can log their workouts, sports, or any intentional activities done throughout the day, such as dog-walking, grocery shopping, or household chores.

Appreci-a-thon racers and sponsoring organizations have shared:

“Appreci-a-thon is a fun way to give back, learn about clinical research, and honor Medical Heroes.”

“Beginning the new year by coming together and pushing ourselves – both as teams and as individuals – in recognition of those who push the limits of healthcare and clinical research each and every day is very exciting and meaningful for all of us at Javara.” – Jennifer Byrne, CEO, Javara

“This challenge is a great way to stay connected with friends, family, and colleagues!”

“Participating in this event is our way to both show our gratitude for the entire clinical research community and showing those who are less familiar with clinical research that the people working on these trials truly care about bringing safe and effective treatments to patients across the globe.” – Curebase

The Medical Heroes Appreci-a-thon virtual activity has begun, but there is still time to join and invite friends, family members, or colleagues to participate in this exciting challenge. Participants can learn more information and register here.
