Born Giir Mou Athaui in Thiet Town, Tonj, Lil Meek DC is quickly becoming one of the most compelling new voices in African hip-hop, known for fusing hard-hitting lyricism with soulful melodies and deeply personal themes.
After launching his career in Uganda in 2019, Lil Meek DC made his breakthrough with the emotional single “His Pain” — a track that captured his inner battles and the struggles of growing up in a war-torn region. The song would later anchor his most acclaimed album to date, Lost and Found, earning him recognition both locally and across streaming platforms.
But Lil Meek DC isn’t just a rapper. He’s also a self-produced beatmaker and a multi-genre artist, blending hip hop, R&B, and Afro-influences into a sound that’s fresh yet deeply rooted in truth. He credits part of his success to the mentorship of his older brother, Slate Nation, a prominent Afrobeat/dancehall artist also from South Sudan.
