Debbie Small interviews amazing people like the lovely Karen Chaston co-founder of The Chaston Centre, Karen is a bright light who helps people move beyond any kind of loss to create their amazing life.
Listening to Karen’s story I know there are so many business owners who could use Karen’s help, assisting them in progressing towards fulfilling lives much more swiftly.
Having lived through one of the greatest losses a person could ever experience, the very unexpected loss of her son Dan; Karen bottled up her loss like many of us would, by eating, drinking and working way too much in total avoidance, though she kept showing up to the world as ‘normal’.
She didn’t recognise herself anymore.
Deciding it was time to honour herself, to find herself and to become her own best friend she went on an incredible journey and began to look after and to love Karen.
Through doing all the hard work on herself, Karen gained the experience and expertise to help others; she became a life coach, wrote books (still drinks lots of Green Juice) and now helps others to look in the mirror, love themselves and be excited about life again. She now loves her perfectly imperfect self. YES! we are all perfectly imperfect and that’s what makes us unique and special. Karen now lives a balanced life walking her talk, spending time with her family and loving life, as well as helping others to do the same.
We all experience various forms of loss, each manifesting uniquely and potentially leading to a sense of disconnection that may affect your performance in the workplace.
Having been a publicly listed company CFO, Karen has a love of helping businesses create an environment where teams thrive through understanding each other, knowing where they are going and most importantly are valued as the business’s greatest asset.
The Gallup 2023 statistics highlight that that only 23% of all employees globally are engaged at work, leaving 77% disengaged; Wow! that’s huge and it’s now time for positive change. This is where Karen Chaston excels! Taking your staff and your business to the next level.
Karen says “many people are feeling disengaged, they look successful but are falling apart inside. Loss, any type of loss, is a major part of us and most people don’t know how to move forward”. Karen helps her clients to intertwine all the parts of their life to create a more rewarding and fulfilling life.
If Karen knew this great tip when she first started her business – it would be to value herself and her knowledge a lot more. When we believe in ourselves and others, extraordinary things can happen, learn from others but trust in yourself.
Her pearls of wisdom are: Get out of your own way quicker, believe in yourself, believe in your why, adjust as you go and seek advice as most people are happy to help as they want to see you succeed. Collaborations and co-creations have helped Karen move her business forward because as she says ”we can’t do it all ourselves”.
Most importantly in business “Valuing your people as your greatest asset is the greatest gift that any leader can give to the company they work for” Ask your employees, they will always assist you to better your business!
