Paws of War is helping a military member move his cat to the U.S., where she can retire in comfort.
NESCONSET, New York – (June 29, 2023) – Deployment in the U.S. military keeps people busy on the base, and sometimes someone new comes along and ends up in charge. That happened at a base in the Middle East when a female cat started hanging around and finding ways into buildings. At first, she was ushered back outside until she grew on them, and they knew she was in charge. Now, they need help getting the cat they named Ado to the United States, where she can live out her peaceful retirement from her overseas military post.
“Once you watch the video to see how loving this cat is and the bond she has, it is clear that we need to get her moved to the U.S.,” says Robert Misseri, co-founder and president of Paws of War. “We are happy to help get Ado moved for our heroes. With the support of community members, we can make it happen.”
Being in charge is how she earned her name, Ado, which stands for Assistant Director of Operations. After repeatedly sneaking her way into unofficial buildings where she wasn’t allowed to be, the military members realized she was in charge. They gave her the name, and the bonding quickly grew from there. She’s a loving cat who spends her days doing what cats love to do, napping, loving on people, and eating. Her time spent with the people has brought smiles to their faces daily.
“Ado has been such a morale boost for all of us here at the base,” explains U.S. Air Force Staff Sergeant Kovacs. “She has become family, and we love her. She’s extremely friendly and outgoing, which could lead to her demise. There have been talks of her being caught and euthanized. I can’t take a chance on that happening.”
Sgt. Kovacs contacted Paws of War to seek help moving Ado to the United States, where she will live out her retirement from her position in peace. Once moved, her remaining days will be filled with love, warmth, and family bonding as she lives with Sgt. Kovacs and his family. Sgt. Kovacs has vowed to do everything he can to help give her a good and loving place to live out her days, retired from her post in the Middle East.
Paws of War can make such long-distance moves happen, but it’s a mission that can be costly and takes time and planning.
