Fashion designer and influencer Ximena Varela is one of the biggest names in the Uruguayan fashion industry today. She has dominated the fashion industry for over a decade, both on the runway and in ready-to-wear. Ximena’s designs are in high demand among fashionistas who want to look their best at formal events. She has triumphed through a great deal of adversity and is prepared to share the expertise gained from her creative foresight with others who are seeking motivation to break into the fashion industry.

From a young age, she has deeply loved the world of fashion and the arts. It was in her nature to experiment with new looks, as she possessed a keen artistic eye. Fortunately, Ximena’s mother encouraged her daughter’s interest in fashion and assisted her in any way possible. As time passed, Ximena came to the conclusion that this was what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. Despite the challenges presented by the prevailing gender norms in Uruguay, she was determined to educate herself in the fashion industry and make a career out of it.

“Through a lot of hard work and determination, I have established my own identity in the fashion world. And yes, the benefits justify the effort. I encourage everyone, especially women who want to undertake a career in fashion, to go for it,” added Ximena. Soon after breaking her way into the fashion industry, she faced another devastating incident. Her world crashed once she learned that her ex-boyfriend had been diagnosed with brain cancer. In the wake of the traumatic experience, she began to sink deeper into depression and anxiety. She had to take a break to regain the strength and motivation to continue with her life.

Ximena could find relief from the anguish and distress she was experiencing by drawing on her creative abilities and vivid imagination. Meanwhile, she was determined not to let anyone undergo what she went through. So, she became an influencer to spread positivity and mental health. Currently, she has over 145k Instagram followers and 46k Facebook followers. In addition to fashion, she often posts content meant to inform and inspire her audience on topics such as health, beauty, wellness, and travel.

“I constantly try to be as genuine as possible to the people around me and myself since life isn’t just about being fashionable and having a good time; it’s much more than that. I urge other people to pursue their goals the same way I have. I am aware of the responsibility that comes with being who I am and demonstrating to the public that everyone, regardless of their level of fame or level of influence, goes through challenging times in life, “added Ximena.

Regarding fashion, Ximena believes in adapting to challenging circumstances and utilizing one’s imagination to find solutions to thrive in any field, and she leads by example. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, she created designer pieces for special occasions and events. But with the occurrence of the pandemic, she had to adapt to new normality as the celebrations were suspended. Moreover, her designer attire is universally flattering. Thus, she has garnered a large LGBT fan base.

Being successful, in my opinion, is more than just having a career you enjoy; it also involves doing something worthwhile that has a positive effect on other people’s lives while being the best version of oneself. -Ximena Varela

Ximena is an entrepreneur, fashion designer, social media influencer, and model, and she is a firm believer that women can do everything they set their minds to in this world. Her life is just another example of a woman’s extraordinary ability and fortitude, and she has undoubtedly served as an inspiration to many others who have found their calling in life.
