Lauren Holland Entrepreneur

What is the “Founder story”?

In 2011, founder Lauren Holland started on a 10-year adventure that would eventually end in the birth of Tiny Revival Clothing Co. She began in the fashion industry which eventually caused her to lose sight of who she was. After graduating from FIDM in Los Angeles she made the hard choice of walking away from the fashion industry and found herself taking steps toward an unforgettable journey.

Lauren found herself learning about human trafficking, during a random lunch with a friend. At the time she had no idea slavery was still around and that people were being bought and sold for labor and sex. Hearing this completely wrecked her. She walked away from the lunch with burning thoughts: “now that I know, I’m responsible.”

She began working locally in Los Angeles helping local PD investigate potential trafficking situations and training PD on signs to look for and prevent human trafficking. She then had the fantastic opportunity to work in India and Nepal, helping others experiencing human trafficking firsthand. During this time abroad, she met many children that further fueled her passion for spreading awareness and ending slavery. She bathed, fed, and comforted many children that had been sold into prostitution and living in brothels. These children and the things she saw while overseas changed the person she was. To this day, Lauren uses their stories to fuel her desire to help them and children/ people like them every single day.

How did you come up with the idea?

After learning about human trafficking and working first-hand with children in India, Lauren was inspired to bring awareness to human trafficking. After leaving India, Lauren was invited to join and help start Purnaa, an amazing ethical garment manufacturing company that exists to employ those most marginalized in society and at-risk or rescued out of trafficking. She spent the next 2 years living in Nepal working alongside these men and women and getting to put her design knowledge back to work!
