On the other hand, we’ve said this before: entrepreneurs are also recognized for contributing to charitable causes and the communities in which they live.
After all, an entrepreneur can never be entirely content if their only goal is to amass a lot of wealth. Entrepreneurs often have the purpose of assisting people and resolving issues. Here are five businesspeople from various fields who are contributing to the betterment of the world through contributions, initiatives, and foundations.
- Bill Gates – Technology
Of course, there is no way to compile a list of philanthropic businesspeople without including Bill Gates’s name. In addition to his reputation as a businessman who gives back to the community, he is widely regarded as one of the most philanthropic people in the whole globe. Bill Gates and his wife, Melinda, established the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to combat global hunger and poverty andsupport education, technology, and scientific research. In addition, he makes personal contributions to educational institutions such as Stanford University and MIT. He is also very enthusiastic about addressing global sanitation problems and finding answers, which has led him to drink a glass of water made from human waste.
- Tony Hawk – Sports
Tony Hawk is perhaps best known for his accomplishments as a professional skateboarder, for which he has won endless awards and competitions. However, in addition to this, he is the founder of the skateboard company Birdhouse and the owner of his charity, the Tony Hawk Foundation. More than three million dollars have been donated by his foundation to assist low-income communities and children who come from disadvantaged households in the construction of skate parks. The foundation offers financial aid in the form of grants, as well as special events and technical help, to create an environment in which children may engage in healthy physical activity, develop a sense of community, and enhance their self-esteem.
- Sara Blakely – Fashion
Spanx is a well-known company that Sara Blakely founded, but she has contributed much more to the lives of women throughout the globe than just body-slimming gear. In 2006, she established the Sara Blakely Foundation to assist women in obtaining an education and business skills.
Blakely’s foundation has contributed millions of dollars to various charitable causes across the globe, in addition to awarding several scholarships to disadvantaged young women in South Africa. The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls even received a one million dollar donation from Blakely herself.
- Satpreet Singh – Finance
Satpreet Singh is the CEO of Ardass Corporation, a California-based corporation providing services in Income Tax, Bookkeeping, Audit, Representation, Business formation, and Notary. He is also the author of the book ‘Restoration & Renovation of Abandoned Historical Places,’ in which he discusses Sikhism and its roots and how repairing historic places is the need of the hour. In addition to his professional endeavors, he is also passionate about humanitarianism. He has spent a significant amount of time working as the Director of the Ranjit Nagara Non-Profit Organization in Manteca, California. In this role, he was responsible for the organization’s efforts to preserve historic sites for Sikhs, establish Gurdwaras, and educate people about the extensive history of the Sikh religion. In addition, he purchased a piece of land that had been abandoned after the partition. He renovated it so that it could be used by the Gurdwara JanamAsthan Mata Sahib Kaur Ji in Rohtas, Jhelum, Punjab.
Today, he is focusing his efforts on making the world a better place for people of all backgrounds and enhancing the quality of the natural world. His most important goal is to alleviate global suffering by ending starvation and poverty.
- Mario Batali – Food
Mario Batali is well-known for more than only his work in the restaurant industry. In 2008, he established the Mario Batali Foundation to end childhood hunger and illiteracy, encourage young people to pursue their aspirations, and effect positive change in the world.
Batali is also involved with the Lunchbox Fund, a charitable organization that works to provide at least one meal per day to orphaned and otherwise disadvantaged children in South Africa. Last but not least, he volunteers with the Food Bank for New York City. This organization helps feed those in need by operating soup kitchens, food pantries, after-school programs, and other similar initiatives.
