Meditation has been around for thousands of years. It’s a practice, and as with any practice, you have to start somewhere, and you have to put effort into it. However, as many conveniences as the modern world has, finding time to meditate often gets pushed to the back burner. The introduction of “micro-meditation” is gaining popularity and maybe the “new” way to meditate.

Hasu Flower created the company to make mindfulness and meditation more accessible to everyone at every socio-economic level and age. The company created a micro-meditation tablet that is easy to integrate into daily activities, it’s short and self-guided, and it’s affordable without a need for a subscription. Both meditation experts and novices can appreciate the calming effect and how it can aid one to go from “noise/busyness, the craziness of everyday life” to calming your brain for a few minutes.

During the pandemic, there was a surge of interest in meditation. Founder Bryan Litman started to explore meditation with his sons. “Teaching kids to meditate can be a bit like herding cats,” said Litman. With a lot of time to experiment, they explored what it means with food and the idea of mindful eating. This was when they kicked off a design exercise on the practice of mindfulness and how to integrate mouthfeel as a key feature. Litman now has workshops for schools to introduce the practice early on.

Litman, through most of his career, has had to manage deadlines, responsibilities, and projects as a film/commercial producer.  He tried many different models to integrate meditation practice into his everyday life. He even hired meditation trainers to go on location and teach techniques and concepts while on shoots. It was only a natural evolution to create his own practice through mindfulness with his micro-meditation tablet.

Research shows that people are most successful with meditation when they are in a guided environment, especially when they first begin their practice. Dennis Buttimer, M.Ed, CEAP, RYT, CHC, a life and wellness coach at Cancer Wellness at Piedmont believes guided meditation is a good option for beginners. “You can use guided meditation like training wheels. In the beginning, you want to have that so you don’t get frustrated and give up, and so you don’t fall victim to sitting there and making a grocery list, which is easy to do, especially with silent meditation. The mind wants to be entertained. When you sit in silence, your mind begins to meander. Getting the mind to focus takes a lot of concentration. With guided meditation, you have a better chance of staying in that state of concentration for longer.” says Buttimer.

Hasu Flower spent a lot of time creating and designing an experience that was intuitive and as effective as being guided, but you didn’t need to spend money on an app, class, or retreat.  The way we solved that is the form and delivery is the guidance itself. The smell, the way the tablet dissolves and acts as a timer for the exercise.  All you need to do is pick a calm environment, focus on your senses, and let the tablet be your guide.

Our customers appreciate Hasu Flower Meditation Tablets. I think people appreciate its simplicity and how approachable it is. Pause. Smell. Mouthfeel. It’s as simple as this. The whole exercise takes about 2 minutes. For some, this will be all they want as a mediation practice, and that’s great. You could call that a Micro-Meditation.  For others, it’s a calming ritual they can use for a deeper/longer practice.
