Cue would get a co-sign from the Atlanta legend Shawty Lo in his early days who would appear as a co-host on a mixtape released in 2013. Cue has plans expanding his business and molding himself to be a household name.

We sat down with Why Cue to discuss his career and accomplishments as a musician.

Q: “When did you figure out you had a thing for music”

A: “For as long as I could talk I’ve been listening to music. It’s become part of my daily routine looking for new music. Before I started making music I remember having this Mp3 player when I was younger and I would load up a bunch of songs like Dip-Set, G-Unit & Young Money on it and bring it everywhere I went. I think that’s when I first fell in love with music”

Q: “When did you first start recording music?”

A: “I made my first song when I was 11 years old. It was only a freestyle and it wasn’t that good to me but I was so proud to hear myself on a beat rapping. I think that’s what made me want to dig deeper into music. It was a different feeling recording than just being a fan at that point and it made me driven for more. Being that my father was a DJ and my mom grew up with the Treacherous Three I felt like music was just destined for me to do”

Q: “What moment did you realize music was for you?”

A: “When I hit my first million views on YouTube. It was a life changing moment because I felt like I finally accomplished something for myself and it was a huge stepping stone for my career. Drippin was more than a song for me; it helped me realize my potential and what I can do when I take things seriously and really put my all into it. It was the first single off my project Xxotic that accumulated over 6 million streams on Spotify.”

Q: “If you weren’t doing music what would you be doing?”

A: “If it wasn’t for music I don’t know where I would be. I was heading down the wrong path at an early age and I feel as if picking up the mic saved my life. I watched a-lot of people I grew up with either get hooked on drugs or go to jail and I didnt want that same life for me. I really wanted to find something I was good at and just be consistent. Once I told myself I wanted to take music to the next level I never looked back. I had tunnel vision from that day on where it was all I thought about 24/7.”
