Library partnership with WonderWorks TN helps spark the imagination and inspire reading in the community Pigeon Forge

PIGEON FORGE, Tennessee  (April 1, 2022) – To celebrate this year’s National Library Week from April 3-9, 2022, WonderWorks Pigeon Forge is partnering with local Sevier County libraries by donating free tickets to be given away to those who sign up for library cards during this special week. The mission is to help inspire more people to read and explore all the opportunities offered at their local library.

“We’re thrilled to be a part of a program that encourages reading and expanding education for our community. The power of reading can spark the imagination in all of us, and that’s exactly what we’re looking to do here at WonderWorks,” says Kerensa Archer, education sales manager at WonderWorks Pigeon Forge.

WonderWorks has participated in this partnership program in the past and is excited to continue to work with the libraries of Sevier County. The partnership aligns with WonderWorks’ mission of sparking the imagination and inspiring the next generation of scientists and leaders.

To help support National Library Week, people can stop at their local library to see what’s new, post on social media outlets (using #MyLibrary) to share something good about local libraries, and follow their favorite libraries on social media. This promotes libraries and reminds others of their vital role in the community.

According to the American Library Association, the first public library in the U.S. was founded in Philadelphia in November 1731 by Benjamin Franklin and was supported on a subscription basis. The first free public library was opened in 1833 in New Hampshire. Today, there are nearly 117,000 libraries around the country.

Additionally, WonderWorks Pigeon Forge will be opening a new STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) room. The new interactive area will include fun education-focused exhibits, including one on shark anatomy and another all about speed. They are also expanding the WonderZone with a Twister activity, offering a digital version of the popular 1960s game.

“We are always looking for new ways to expand our offerings to guests,” explains Joe Baumgartner, general manager of WonderWorks Pigeon Forge. “Our new STEM room is another way that we can offer exposure to STEM subjects in a unique and fun way. We’re looking forward to seeing how guests interact with this new learning space.”

WonderWorks Pigeon Forge also currently houses a traveling exhibit titled Cruisin ’66, which features preserved artifacts and information about the famous Route 66. Visitors can learn the cultural and historical history of this famous route that people used to travel across the country. To get more information on the exhibit, visit the site: https://www.wonderworksonline.com/pigeon-forge/traveling-exhibits/.
