The electric vehicle (EV) market in the USA is rapidly expanding, driven by growing environmental concerns and government incentives promoting clean energy transportation.
Amidst this transformative landscape, Toyota, one of the key players in the automotive industry, is making significant progress. With a longstanding presence and strong reputation in the US market, Toyota is poised to introduce its highly anticipated electric pickup, the Toyota Tacoma EV.
This new model aims to combine Toyota’s legendary reliability with cutting-edge EV technology and it is set to offer American consumers a strong and sustainable option in the pickup segment, reflecting Toyota’s commitment to innovation and zero emission lifestyle.
The New Tacoma EV
The Toyota Tacoma line has received a lot of updates in the past year, with the company solidifying it as the midsize pickup truck of the future. Toyota released the fourth generation for the 2024 model year, and it is the most powerful and efficient Tacoma ever.
Of course, the good news keeps on coming with the company announcing a hybrid model followed by an all-electric Tacoma pickup. It should reach dealerships next year and it has everyone ecstatic for it.
Beloved is a closer look at the key moment and things you should know about New Tacoma EV:
The Background
Toyota has received a lot of pressure for not going as green as they should. Remember that the company revealed it was more interested in hydrogen power than electrification. Still, it revealed a whole lineup of EVs under the bZ series back in 2021, showing its seriousness to go electric.
Many don’t remember that there was another EV that was revealed as a concept car that same year – an electric pickup truck. Everyone recognized it as a midsize pickup but when the 2024 Tacoma was revealed, it looked very similar to the concept truck.
In other markets, Toyota has already unveiled the Hilux EV, a truck similar in size to the Taco. It has also revealed the EPU concept, another truck that is identical when it comes to dimensions. Of course, a Tacoma being as popular as it is, should make for a much more interesting EV.
The Tacoma EV will come out in 2026, but what if you’re looking for genuine parts for your vehicles right now? Well, you can find a reliable supply of genuine Toyota parts here: https://sts-global.com/toyota-parts.
Beneath the Hood
It is safe to assume that the truck will come with one or a pair of electric motors that’ll send power to a two- or all-wheel drive system. Like the current Tacoma? Well this one may just blow your mind as it’ll deliver snippier acceleration due to more instantaneous power delivery.
It will definitely be quieter, so you can expect greater refinement and comfort – two words we never thought we could say about the Tacoma when it first came out. But of course, this won’t just be a lifestyle vehicle, as it will still be capable of doing ‘pickup truck things.’
Expect it to have an excellent towing capacity that should be similar to the current ICE models ranging in the 6-6.5k pound range. The hauling capacity should be in the 1.5-1.7k range as well, based on this pattern.
But of course, the real reason why you’d want this truck is its range. Experts are saying that it will probably deliver up to 200 miles on a full charge. Is that a good number? Not exactly when you compare it to trucks such as the Ford Lightning, which are bigger and heavier.
Still, we’re looking at a step up from the 25ish mpg figures for the current non-hybrid version. Owning the new Toyota Tacoma EV should be a much cheaper experience as you just have to plug it in at night. Also, you never know how far EV charging tech may go when the truck is out.
The Vanity
It is expected that this EV Toyota pickup will look similar to the aforementioned concept that was showcased three years ago. Similar to other electric versions of ICE vehicles, it will look more futuristic with its distinct lack of a front grille and many more LEDs in its lights.
Another prediction is that the new EV Tacoma will come exclusively with a crew cab configuration. So you’ll get a more spacious and comfier cabin perfect for your friends, family or crew to ride along with you.
Trim Levels
With this truck, you can hope for a TRD Off-Road trim that will prepare it for the great outdoors with a raised suspension, fatter tires, and more durable materials. You’ll also get a top Limited trim level that will max out the luxury to increase your comfort and social standing.

Pricing
The electric Tacoma truck price is another point of debate amongst automotive enthusiasts right now. Journalists are expecting it to set you back at least $50k – a whopping $20k more than the base model gas-powered 2024 Tacoma truck.
This is a concern but then again, the same was the case with the Ford Lightning and the standard F150 – it didn’t stop the former from becoming the most sought out truck on the market. The question is, is Tacoma popular enough to repeat the same thing?
