Dronedek, specializing in smart mailboxes for autonomous delivery services, puts crowdfunding investments in the spotlight.

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – (November 21, 2022) – Most people are familiar with the traditional way many businesses get started, which tends to include taking out bank loans. One way around that is for those with a great idea to focus on crowdfunding, which allows them to get the funds they need to start and grow their business straight from investors. For those who have been on the fence regarding being a crowdfunding investor, there are some excellent reasons to support leaping to do it.

“Crowdfunding is a great thing and helps a lot of entrepreneurs get their start,” says Dan O’Toole, founder and chief executive officer of Dronedek. “Crowdfunding used to focus on family and friends, but today it invites everyone to participate and get in on the action.”

Numerous businesses started through crowdfunding and grew to be million-dollar companies. They include the likes of Allbirds, Peloton, Popsocket, and Oculus. Each company was an idea at one time until others believed in them and helped bring it to fruition.

Here are 6 reasons every investor should consider crowdfunding:

  • Selectivity. Crowdfunding allows people to support the things they believe in. Without that support, some of those ideas would likely never make it to market.
  • Support. Those who engage in crowdfunding support entrepreneurs seeking a less restrictive route. Many entrepreneurs take traditional loans with many rules and regulations, often tying the hands of those with creative ideas.
  • Flexibility. Crowdfunding makes it easy to decide how much to invest in the idea or company. Being someone that supports it comes with a lot of flexibility. People can give as little as $10 and still help support the idea. That may not seem like much, but if you have a few thousand people who chip in that amount, it adds up quickly.
  • Diversifying. Investors typically like to diversify their portfolios, and crowdfunding gives them a unique way to do that. Many are investing in something in their town or that they will use, so they see their funds put into action.
  • Satisfaction. There’s a sense of self-satisfaction that comes with being a crowdfunder. Being able to help an entrepreneur be able to bring their idea to market can leave people feeling like they are genuinely making a difference, and that’s hard to beat.
  • Advantage. Those who are early supporters of a company through crowdfunding may have an advantage when the company has an initial public offering (IPO). Pre-IPO support and relationship-building can go a long way, giving investors a first-move advantage.

“If there is something you believe in and would like to see come to market, consider crowdfunding,” adds O’Toole. “It’s the best way for people to help ensure new ideas make it to the marketplace.”

Dronedek has raised millions to bring its system to market. Its drone delivery system will include a mixed-use of autonomous and traditional delivery. The method is slated to save time and money, ensure that people get the items they order, and provide a more environmentally friendly way of handling delivery.

Dubbed the “mailbox of the future,” the device will help people send and receive packages securely and safely and provides privacy. Dronedek has raised more than $7.1 million, helping to bring the receptacles to market and launching pilot programs. The company has also recently announced several new partnerships across its MaaS (Mailbox as a Service) ecosystem, including drone provider Vayu Aerospaceand network provider Helium.
