Upcoming Boxing Tribute
Saturday, March 9th, Celebrity Boxing is returning to The Showboat in Atlantic City to host a tribute show to the late Aaron Carter. Carter was a major component in the resurgence of Celebrity Boxing, famously fighting against 6’10” NBA champion and gold medal winner, Lamar Odom.
Aaron Carter was an American singer and rapper who rose to fame in the late 90s as a teenage heartthrob and brother of Backstreet Boy, Nick Carter. Carter tragically passed away on November 5, 2022 in his home. The cause of death was not immediately publicized, but the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner later ruled that Carter’s death was accidental:
“It’s a special night because Aaron Carter was a big part of the return of Celebrity Boxing,” says Official Celebrity Boxing founder Damon Feldman. “Aaron was a great guy…all the talks and memories…We love and miss you! His Beautiful fiancé Melanie Martin will be attending to accept the Celebrity Boxing Honorary championship belt in Aaron’s name.”

History of Celebrity Boxing
Celeb boxing, a form of entertainment that combines the spectacle of boxing with the star power of well-known personalities, garnered attention in the early 2000s. Many trace it back to a specific event in 2002 when the Fox television network aired “Celebrity Boxing,” a show that featured celebrities stepping into the ring to box one another. This concept quickly captured public interest due to its unique blend of sport and entertainment, capitalizing on the growing celebrity culture. Over the years, it evolved from a television novelty into a more organized sporting event, attracting a wider range of participants, including influencers, athletes, and internet personalities. The rise of social media and streaming platforms further fueled its popularity, transforming it into a lucrative venture where fights are often streamed on pay-per-view platforms. This modern iteration of celeb boxing not only provides entertainment but has also become a platform for celebrities to settle public feuds, raise money for charity, or rejuvenate their public image.
Celebrity Boxing is proving that not only is there a place for it but that it’s here to stay, with exciting upcoming partnerships, expansion into other combat sports, and entertainment ventures.
