1. You are a filmmaker, producer, actor, and now a successful fitness coach. What are the top 5 reasons you think have helped you succeed in so many fields?
Ashish Lal. If you look at it, all these involve two aspects – filmmaking and fitness. These are the two most important loves of my life. I’ve dedicated about 2 decades to scientific and holistic fitness and one and a half decades to filmmaking.
2. The top 5 qualities that have helped me achieve success in these fields are as follows:
Ashish Lal. In my opinion, they are:
- Love: I absolutely love filmmaking and fitness.
- Self-discipline: I do what is required to be done, when it is required to be done, and whether I like to do it at that time or not. I’m not moody but self-disciplined. That is a mandatory quality if you want to move forward in life.
- Integrity: I am honest to myself, to others, and to my work. This builds trust, and trust goes a long way in everything you do.
- Eye for detail: I never rush through my work. I go into a detailed understanding of what I do. This brings quality to even the smallest things I do.
- Process-oriented: I don’t allow myself or my teammates to take any shortcuts to get results. It is important to get results through the right process. Only then can anything be scalable. Yes, we’re open to creative ideas and changes in the process sometimes, but overall, we follow processes to make work smooth.
3. Tell us a little bit more about your fitness coach aspect. Why fitness?
Ashish Lal. First things first – my parents have been doing Yoga regularly for the last 30+ years. In my childhood, we rarely ate outside food. My mother cooked fresh and nutritious meals for us every day. This was the foundation for me.
Secondly, when I was a teenager, I had a bone-related issue that was not getting cured. I got to know that Yoga could sort this out. I learned Yoga from professionals in May 2000 and have been doing it almost daily since then. After learning Yoga, I started practicing it to see great results. I especially got fascinated with Pranayama, the breathing exercises part of Yoga. Unfortunately, after a few years, I had severe and chronic asthma. The best of the best doctors said that asthma symptoms could be managed, but asthma can never be cured. I was not ready to buy that. I started looking for holistic alternative therapies, and eventually, with a combination of Yoga, Ayurveda, and Nutritional Therapy, I cured my asthma completely. I put out my experience on social media, and hundreds of thousands of people from around the globe saw that, and many contacted me personally. For almost 16 years, I helped thousands of asthmatics heal their asthma, either completely or significantly. Since it was impossible to personally reply to all queries, I created an online video course, “Heal Asthma using Yoga, Ayurveda & Nutritional Therapy,” which can be found on the RedAsh TV website. It has well-curated and step-by-step methods to heal your asthma, either completely or significantly. These methods can be followed along with following your doctor’s medications and treatment.
Being an actor, I needed to have a fit body that also looked good. I wanted that look and strength but without the usage of steroids or too many supplements. Hence, I got into gym weight training and freehand exercises in 2009 when I quit my job to make a career in films.
Nutritional science has always fascinated me, and I always keep updating myself on that and keep following holistic meal plans. I have helped many people be fit scientifically, such that the fitness level is permanent and not temporary.
To help people know everything they need to know to be fit all their life, I researched, wrote, and finally created an online video course investing 3.5 years of my life. It is called “Lifelong Scientific Fitness”. It is the encyclopedia of nutrition science, gym training (130+ exercises), freehand exercises (55+ exercises) and yoga (20+ exercises). It can also be found on the RedAsh TV website.
I always say this – fitness should be your number one priority today, otherwise, it will forcefully become your number one priority tomorrow.
4. How did your experience as a filmmaker inform your approach to creating the course, and what unique perspectives or techniques did you bring to the table?
Ashish Lal. I have created two scientific and holistic courses – one on healing asthma and another on lifelong physical fitness. The 3rd course on holistic mental health is in the making. These are online video courses available on the RedAsh TV website. Creating these video lessons requires the same effort as creating any other video or film – we need a script, an actor, a director who shoots, an editor who edits, and a few other team members. We already have these skills professionally as we have worked for over 15 years for top global clients such as the UN, the UK government, LG, Bajaj, GE, Amazon, and many others. So, we use the same skills to create these video courses. I write and act in them. Everything else is handled by our RedAsh Films creative team. We produce premium quality professional online video courses that are extremely beneficial for one and all. In fact, in the recent past, we made over 400+ e-learning videos for corporate clients, so we already had those skills tested. Most course creators are newbies in creating courses and don’t know how to write or shoot the courses. It is difficult for them to make these video lessons useful for the end user, even when they have the right intentions. We have an edge there.
5. Can you tell us about any upcoming projects or initiatives and what you have planned for the future?
Ashish Lal. We are focused on helping more people around the globe to heal asthma, have lifelong fitness, and take care of their mental health holistically. The first two courses have been created, while the third will be created soon. All can be found on the RedAsh TV website. Since these are premium courses, there are people who cannot afford them. For such people, we have an eBook version of the full video course as well at a giveaway price so that nobody is left out from benefitting themselves. We intend to reach countries around the globe and help them have holistic and scientific fitness all their life. There are massive plans in this area, and we are moving forward step-by-step.
