Crescentt is a brand of Feel-Good products. Their aim? To bring luxury home.
Founded by a public school educator in Toronto, the betterment of society is at the forefront of her mind. Preferring just the name ‘Asiya,’ which means ‘healer,’ this ambitious founder was inspired to start her own brand after the birth of her first daughter in 2018.
“I went through postpartum depression,” she says, “I was in an LDR with my husband, who I was sponsoring from abroad at the time, and our relationship wasn’t going great. Add an unplanned pregnancy into the mix, and it felt quite bad to go through it mostly alone.”
But sometime during her maternity break, Asiya discovered the wonders of online business and building a brand online. Deriving inspiration from other female boss-women, the brand Crescentt was born. “I started out with an interest in postpartum shapewear because I was really trying to bounce back to my pre-pregnancy figure after giving birth. I thought Crescentt Shapewear sounded really nice. I was shocked to see that the brand name Crescentt wasn’t already taken so I jumped on the opportunity.”
However, shapewear wasn’t entirely where her true calling would be. “The next idea I came up with was Crescentt Luxury, and that became the line I am most passionate about.”
Feeling that she had missed out on traveling, Asiya tapped into her yearning for vacation getaways and relaxation to produce her first product with Crescentt Luxury – luxurious Turkish cotton spa bathrobes.
“Well, technically, it started with silk satin sleepwear,” she laughs. “I just loved the look and feel of it and the overall beauty and luxury of the fabric.”
But it didn’t get as successful as her bathrobes eventually did. “I love the feeling of hotels and spas. I felt like I didn’t get to experience them as much as I would have wanted so that craving became the essence of my brand. I really wanted to bring that feeling home for everyone.”
Luckily, her luxury bathrobes took off, and she began to do quite well online, namely on her Amazon Canada store. It grew into developing her own online website, Crescentt.com where she now sells carefully selected products to bring “Quality, Comfort & Beauty” to women everywhere.
“I don’t want to take advantage of anyone or anything to make money. I really don’t like fast fashion,” she tells. “I teach kids in school, and sustainability is a major topic. I care about providing a good experience for customers and protecting the environment, and I also only invest in high-quality products. Ethical sourcing is at the forefront. But with sustainability, there is still so much to learn.”
She now offers organic bamboo pajamas as part of her Crescentt Luxury line, which is well-loved by her customers and sustainably sourced. Her organic bamboo pajamas are made of natural bamboo viscose and have a small ecological footprint when disposed of due to being made of a wholly natural and biodegradable material.
Crescentt’s organic bamboo pajamas are also breathable and anti-bacterial – perfect against night sweats, hot flashes, and skin conditions such as eczema & dermatitis.
“These pajamas are extremely soft and comfortable to sleep in, and the first time I wore a set, I had a transformational experience,” she tells.
“Really?” I ask.
“Yes. I never put much thought and care into what I wore at home, but once I started testing materials for my brand and wearing luxurious sleepwear myself, I had an epiphany.
“Somehow, my confidence and self-love increased. I would look into the mirror and feel good seeing myself. I looked fancy and put-together, even while at home, and that had an effect on my overall mood and sense of self-worth. Before, I never put much thought into what I wore at home, and I feel like that was actually contributing to a negative self-image! Wearing luxurious and comfy loungewear helped me realize that the impact of what you wear at home is huge.”
And this is the selling point of Crescentt: to bring luxury apparel home. Instead of focusing on what one wears outside, Asiya wants to promote well-being at home through comfort and accessible luxury goods for women. She does this through her loungewear. “Good-quality and beautiful loungewear can not only improve your sleep, but it can also have you feeling good throughout the day or in the evenings at home. It’s a form of self-love to me, which I feel like we women need so badly nowadays.”
“I love it when I see customers genuinely smiling and wearing my products – which happens often enough, which I am so grateful for. It brings me joy to see women happy and smiling.”
Asiya cares a lot about women, having also struggled with mental health issues and postpartum depression.
“I feel like it’s so hard to find a balance and the right identity as a woman, as society presents so many options and expectations from us that it causes a huge internal struggle when things don’t go how we picture them. I truly believe that self-love and self-care are essential to thriving and growing as people and finding true happiness. And I believe it starts with treating ourselves to nice things that we can afford.”
