Why is this subject important in the world?
We are now looking at 2 to 6% of the population having moderate to crippling CFS and fibromyalgia. About 40% of these were posted infectious before Covid. Added to these numbers are 10 to 15% of people who had Covid who are now developing long haulers CFS post-Covid. These millions of people are often crippled and hopeless. The impact on the economy is also dramatic, and people not returning to work because of persistent fatigue after Covid may be a significant player in the “Great Resignation.” This Is disrupting the economy, supply chains and having another impact worldwide as well
What is the pressing issue, right, and how are you addressing it?
The pressing issue is the lack of physician education on understanding and diagnosing persistent post-Covid symptoms. Also, many researchers are not helping people with CFS and fibromyalgia expertise. Because of this, it may take an extra 10 to 20 years to design studies that bring effective research tools to the population. At this point, there is not even a reasonable diagnosis of “Long Haulers Syndrome” or PASC to allow studies to be designed. Because they include people with heart and lung illness, fatigue syndrome, and even loss of taste and smell, all of the same group. Which will make study designs fail unnecessarily. They are also not taking advantage of numerous studies and broad clinical experience showing how to treat postviral CFS effectively.
I am lecturing extensively to physicians and in the media directly to the public to help them understand the condition and how to recover.
Jacob Teitelbaum Biography
What is your background in this subject?
In 1975, I came down with post-viral chronic fatigue syndrome, which knocked me out of medical school and left me homeless for much of the year. I was able to learn how to recover and return to medical school. Since then, I have completed eight studies and several books on effective treatment for postviral and other causes of chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, and fatigue and pain in general. I have treated countless thousands of people effectively for these conditions, written three textbook chapters, and done hundreds of lectures and media appearances. My specialty is internal medicine with a focus on fibromyalgia, CFS, and chronic pain
What is something that most people don’t know about you?
That I had post-viral chronic fatigue syndrome myself.
· What are your passions outside of your career?
I’m a science geek, which extends into my being a Trekkie (Star Trek)

Tell me about your book.
My book, “From Fatigued to Fantastic,” is the best-selling book of all time on chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. It first came out in 1995 and is in its 4th+ edition. It helps people to understand what is causing their symptoms and puts together an organized, research-proven protocol for recovery. Much of which people can apply on their own. Long haulers, as Dr. Fauci has noted, are simply one more form of postviral CFS and fibromyalgia
