New Subscription Box Makes Cocktails and Mixology More Accessible to Women
What problem does the product solve?
I was seeking to get women into the cocktail space. I really feel we’ve been ignored. Now, obviously there are products out there (canned cocktails and such) but I know women want to learn mixology and I felt there wasn’t anything out there that was approachable and aimed at them personally.
Tell us about the founder. What is their background?
I’m the founder, Nicole Schaefer of Missologist. My background is in law. But I have a creative brain and I love being an entrepreneur. I am a certified Mixologist as well.
How did they come up with the idea?
I am in a meetup group for women in their 30’s. One night I was making cocktails for some ladies and once they saw me do it, they all wanted to learn how. I taught them and suddenly they were making their own and they were so excited! Then, a few days later, it hit me.
How can this transform the world or our day-to-day lives?
I think it’s going to make women a lot bolder when they order drinks with friends. I think they will start talking to bartenders and hopefully teaching others about cocktails and mixology. My goal is to introduce people to this fascinating world and show them it doesn’t have to be hard or complicated.
What do customers love most about the product?
So far, they love the recipes and the little gifts I put in the boxes. I’ve also heard they’re just excited to get the boxes and see what’s inside- which is awesome. I want people to be excited about the boxes and to really enjoy making the drinks.
