Crown & Paw Innovation
What problem does Crown & Paw solve?
Pet owners commonly outlive their pets, so pet portraits can keep the memory of a beloved pet alive for many years to come. Custom pet portraits are an incredible gift option at Christmas, Mother’s Day, and Father’s Day, particularly if you’re not sure what your loved ones would like. Crown & Paw takes the stress out of gift-giving with unique portraits of pets that are sure to get a reaction.
How can this transform the world or our day-to-day lives?
On the surface, you may not think a pet portrait can transform the world or anyone’s life. But you’d be wrong. Crown & Paw receives thousands of reviews and emails every year from customers whose fond memories of pets who have sadly passed away bring a smile and tears of joy whenever they’re seen on the wall. Over the holidays, there are tens of thousands of people who appreciate Crown & Paw’s care and attention to detail given to every pet portrait, helping to make Christmas morning a bit more magical. A custom portrait is a lot better than a scarf, after all! Finally, Crown & Paw is passionate about animal welfare, having donated more than $100,000 to various charities over the years. Most notably, Crown & Paw made a huge donation to Humane Society International’s work to end the dog meat trade in South Korea. As a result, a commemorative plaque is proudly displayed at one of the dog rehabilitation centers that house those lucky survivors saved from a cage existence, as well as a rescue puppy named after the founder of Crown & Paw!
Adam Reed Entrepreneur
What is the “Founder story”?
Adam Reed has been running all sorts of businesses since he was 15. He is a Forbes 30 under 30 Founder. As a child, he wanted to be a vet but soon changed his mind when he found out it isn’t always a happy ending for some of the patients. His love for animals is clear to see with Crown & Paw. Adam’s goal is to become the number 1 pet portrait brand in the world, helping pet owners express and celebrate the love they have for their pets.
How did you come up with the idea?
Adam was on a trip to Amsterdam with his girlfriend, who had recently gotten a puppy. They were at the Rijksmuseum looking at all of the incredible Renaissance-era portraits, and for some reason creating a portrait for her puppy just struck him. He thought it would be hilarious. He found an artist and hired them to create the first-ever Crown & Paw pet portrait. As soon as he saw the finished piece, he knew it was something that the rest of the world needed to see. He set up a website over a weekend and within a few weeks, he already had hundreds of customers. Since its launch in 2019, Crown & Paw and its team have produced over 700,000 individual pet portraits for people around the world. Their goal is to hit 1,000,000 pet portraits by the end of 2024.
