11th graders are often at a critical point in their academic journey, preparing for college and facing the challenges of Advanced Placement (AP) courses. These courses are designed to provide students with a college-level education and the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school. However, many students struggle to succeed in these courses due to a lack of resources and support. That’s where ProfessorAI comes in.
Founded by 11th graders Pradyu Kandala and his co-founder Abhay Chebium, ProfessorAI is a revolutionary tool that aims to address the issues faced by AP students. With a mission to help all students, regardless of their location or socio-economic status, ProfessorAI is making waves in the education industry.
“Our startup ProfessorAI aims to address the issues AP students face, including the lack of help for AP courses, lack of 1-on-1 attention from teachers, difficulty to succeed in the classroom and AP exams, and ineffective comprehension of course material,” says Pradyu Kandala, the founder of ProfessorAI.
The idea for ProfessorAI came from Pradyu and Abhay’s personal experience as AP students. He noticed that many of his peers were struggling to keep up with the rigorous coursework and lacked access to additional resources. With a passion for technology and a desire to make a positive impact in the world, Pradyu and Abhay set out to create a solution that would benefit students across the nation.
“Our tool helps address these issues and acts as an aid for teachers to rely on. Our project, ProfessorAI, focuses on enhancing education by creating a Custom GPT with a specialized language model (LLM) tailored for college-level courses like AP and IB,” explains Abhay Chebium.
ProfessorAI’s Custom GPT is trained on AP curriculum textbooks, providing a comprehensive learning experience for students. Its key features include course-specific chats, intuitive questioning, integration of multiple documents, rubric-based assessments, and seamless linkage to online resources. The tool also offers specialized functionalities such as integrated graph support, real-time textbook synchronization, and access to web resources.
But ProfessorAI doesn’t just benefit students. It also offers game-changing functionalities for educators, such as AI grading, interactive student activities, and tailored learning curriculums around educational videos. With a nationwide team of over 25 strategic marketers and a wealth of diverse expertise and experience, ProfessorAI is well-positioned for success.
“Our team’s collective experience, including internships at various startups, steering ventures, and collaborating on AI/Machine Learning projects with esteemed professors, positions us adeptly in business development, scalability, and cutting-edge technology implementation,” says Pradyu.
Through engagements with TIE Entrepreneurs and collaborations with professors at renowned institutions like Harvard and Columbia University, Pradyu and his team have garnered profound insights into the methodologies essential for fostering business growth and expansion. This expertise, combined with their passion for making a difference in the world, sets ProfessorAI apart from other education startups.
Despite over 2.5 million students annually undertaking AP courses, more than 60% score below a 4/5 on the test due to inadequate preparation. ProfessorAI aims to change this statistic by democratizing access to tailored educational resources and offering personalized tutoring and adaptive learning platforms. With the imminent launch of its Minimum Viable Product (MVP), ProfessorAI is set to make a significant impact in the education industry.
“We aim to address the issue of lack of help for AP courses, lack of 1-on-1 attention from teachers, and difficulty of success and learning in these courses. These are only some of the key features that we offer. Our website, professorai.co, has more information on our product and our team,” says Abhay.
